Before buying a used vehicle
Arrange the inspection before completing the purchase. Ask the seller whether the vehicle can be brought to our East 21st Street shop, then call with its year, make, model, mileage, and any concerns.
A short test drive or vehicle history report does not replace a mechanical inspection. An inspection can help you understand the vehicle’s condition and the repairs or maintenance to consider before deciding to buy.
What the inspection can cover
The scope depends on the vehicle and the reason for the visit. Areas to discuss include:
- Brakes, tires, steering, and suspension
- Visible leaks, fluid condition, belts, and hoses
- Engine operation and transmission concerns
- Warning lights, battery, and basic electrical operation
- Air conditioning, heating, and other concerns you identify
We’ll discuss what was found and recommended next steps. A specific symptom may require additional diagnostic work beyond a general condition inspection.
An inspection does not authorize repairs. We’ll discuss a repair estimate and get your approval before any repair work.
Questions about vehicle inspections
Can an inspection find every possible problem?
No. It assesses the vehicle at the time of the visit. Intermittent faults and problems inside components may not be apparent without additional testing or disassembly. It is not a guarantee against future repairs.
Can I have my current vehicle checked?
Yes. We offer general condition inspections for vehicles you already own. Tell us about any upcoming trip, maintenance concerns, or changes in how it drives. A specific problem may need separate diagnostic work.
How much does an inspection cost?
Call with the vehicle details and the inspection you need. Confirm what is included and how findings will be provided before arranging the visit.
Arrange an inspection
For a used-car purchase, allow time to review the findings before making your decision. Call to discuss scheduling and the details of the vehicle.
